I’m excited to share that today, after 21 years, our client John Nolley was exonerated in Texas.

The Innocence Project worked closely to reinvestigate this case with the Tarrant County District Attorney’s office and local law enforcement, who devoted hundreds of hours to finding the truth. Today, Mr. Nolley was officially exonerated by the dismissal of the indictments on the grounds of actual innocence. It closes a painful journey for John, who was released in 2016 after serving 19 years of a life sentence for a murder he did not commit.

John was wrongfully convicted of the 1996 murder of his friend Sharon McLane based largely on the testimony of three informants. Evidence uncovered during a reinvestigation by the Tarrant County District Attorney’s newly established Conviction Integrity Unit revealed that…
