Inmate found dead at Texarkana Arkansas jail

TEXARKANA, Ark. (KTBS) – An investigation is underway after a Texarkana inmate is found dead.
Texarkana, Arkansas jail staff found 35-year-old Michael Sabbie unresponsive in his cell around 6:30am Wednesday.
Police say he was in the cell by himself and jail medical staff performed immediate CPR. LifeNet Paramedics were also called to the jail.
After Sabbie was pronounced dead, his body was sent to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for an autopsy.
The Criminal Investigation Division with TAPD is currently investigating this case. Investigators are interviewing jail staff, checking jail records and reviewing jail video.
Sabbie was in jail for a recent domestic assault arrest.

TAPD inmate found dead in Bi-State Jail
A Texarkana, Arkansas Jail inmate was found early Wednesday morning in Bi-State jail, according to a press release by Texarkana, Arkansas Police Department.
According to the Texarkana Police Department they were notified at approximately 6:30 am by jail staff that TAPD inmate, Michael Sabbie, was found in his cell unresponsive by corrections personnel.
According to police he was in a cell by himself. “Our Jail medical staff provided immediate CPR and LifeNet Paramedics were called to the jail.”
“A TAPD Patrol Supervisor went immediately to our jail facility and contacted our Criminal Investigation Division Supervisors, Detectives, and Crime Scene Unit Investigators,” the press release says. “Michael Sabbie was pronounced deceased and his body sent to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for an autopsy.”
35-year-old Michael Sabbie was a resident of Texarkana, Ark. and was in custody for a recent Domestic Assault Arrest at the time of his death.
